15 PUBG Hackers Arrested And Fined $5.1 Million USD

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, also known by the acronym PUBG, is the most played game on Steam. It reaches 2 million simultaneous players every day and, due to its popularity, is a constant target of cheaters or hackers.

A news release by the game’s creator, PUBG Corp., in the Steam community should slow down hacking activity. The company said 15 suspects were arrested in China for “developing hacking programs, hosting such programs and mediating transactions.” They were fined $5.1 million.

The investigation, conducted jointly with Chinese officials, showed that some cheating programs came with a virus that allowed hackers to collect information from users’ computers improperly. That is, anyone who used any cheater program may have had their personal information violated in the process.

The game, also available for Android and iOS, puts up to 100 people on an island to reach a randomly chosen spot. They should look for weapons, vehicles and equipment to survive and achieve this goal.

Very popular, PUBG has banned more than 1 million people in January. It has also received updates in recent months to prevent hackers; the last one was in February and promised to scan the user’s computer files and not start the game if a third party program affected the game. The anti-cheat tool also acted on other non-malicious programs, such as audio or video recorders.

Moral: Never think about it...
